South Florida Newborn Photography | Love at First Sight

Who doesn’t love spending an afternoon with a beautiful, new babe? I recently met Amaya and her equally beautiful mama for their newborn photography session and I couldn’t help but miss the days of caring for a newborn (crazy right?!) While I was there only a few months ago (which is still evident from my crazed mom-bun and attachment to coffee), the whirlwind of new motherhood has warped time in such a profound way.

Days still seem to stretch endlessly while weeks and months fly by in an instant. My now walking and ever-curious babe no longer sleeps for endless stretches and her dependence on me is diminishing every day.

While Amaya’s mother, like all of us caught up in the tumultuous first days of motherhood where love, acceptance, fear, joy, grief, and unfaltering change flowed unrestrained commented “oh, how I wish she was as old as your daughter.” I had to remind her- breathe this in. Don’t wish it away. It is easy to look at your newly changed life and wish for easier days ahead. Days of more sleep, less diaper changes, and a familiar lifestyle. I know I did.

Breathe in her details and etch into your memory the way she nestles into you when she sleeps and how her fingers grip you as she is drifting off. You won’t get these memories back, mama.

Being able to capture some of the first images of her tiny wrinkles, fingers, and toes was a delight. Who doesn’t love tiny baby toes?!
